SANDIA, Texas — A Sandia firefighter was injured early Monday after a Sandia Fire Department vehicle was involved in a rollover accident on an icy road responding to a structure fire.
Sandia Fire Chief Henry Barajas said the firefighter, a female, was transported to Spohn Hospital in Alice with a possible broken arm or broken shoulder.
Barajas said the crew was responded to a fire call about 5:30 a.m. about a possible structure fire at the Catholic Church in the city. The accident occurred on County Road 360 about 2 1/2 miles from the Sandia Fire Station. The vehicle was eastbound at the time of the accident.
The call turned out to be a false alarm, he said.
