SINTON, Texas — It was a day of champions over at the San Patricio County Junior Livestock Show. Today's awards were handed out to grand champions in rabbits, pigs and turkeys among other animals. We caught up with some of the winners for their comments.

“I’m a junior in high school and I've been doing this for a really long time,” Emma Thomas said. “This is my ... I've been showing since third grade. I've been doing this a long time so to finally win grand champion is very cool.”

Trey Canales raised a reserved champion pig.

“It's means a lot to be out here with my friends and family,” Canales said. “And to win ... It's just awesome.”

Kylee Powers’ specialty is raising grand champion rabbits.

“I was just like, oh my gosh I'm going to get reserved, and then he told me I got grand,” Powers said. “And I was like did I just win. Like I did not. It was unreal.”

And Blake Koether raised a grand champion turkey.

“It really teaches you responsibility,” Koether said. “And on top of that the money you make from the auction is going to help pay for college.”

And the big auction for these animals is happening this weekend. Good luck to all the kids.
