Salty Oak BBQ doing something sweet for holidays

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Americans will spend a little more than $1,000 this year during the holidays, according to the National Retail Federation.

So in an attempt to help customers out, Salty Oak BBQ has cut its menu item prices by $2.

Salty Oak BBQ recently moved to a location at 4301 S. Alameda, near Robert Drive. With it's new location comes new options: Salty Oak now opens Monday-Thursday from 7-11 a.m. to sell breakfast brisket tacos, and serves lunch and dinner beginning at 11 a.m. It is also open for lunch and dinner from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.

They also provide delivery and catering. For hours and more information, you can find that here.

Travis Brem, who owns the restaurant, which was earned the 2019 Local's List People's Choice award, sees it as a great way to help out the people who help keep him in business.

"You know, some families see us more than two or three times a week," he said. "I sat there and did the math and said, 'Well, that family that comes to see us every week. With this promotion, they would have saved close to $50 dollars.' So that really motivated us."

Brem announced the promotion, called 'Two'$ the Season!' on Facebook before Halloween. Although $2 may not seem like much, Brem said Salty Oak BBQ has felt the impact to its own pocketbook. He's not worried about it, though.

"I know when we're acting on the behalf of the humanitarian spirit, nothing but good can come out of it," he said. "So I'm not worried if it stretches things thin a little bit here: We'll just do what we can to keep the lights on, and we're happy with that."
