CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — It was also a traffic nightmare for parents over at Kolda Elementary on this first day of school.
Construction on Rodd Field Road between Slough Road and Brooke caused this back-up.
A four-way stop was installed last week to allow the road improvement project to continue.
Parents say a lack of guidance on the new traffic pattern and very little parking led to the congestion.
“You've got people parking in all kinds of areas. coming into the school from different angles. trying to do whatever they can to get access and do the drop off for the first day,” parent Anthony Avila said.
It took some parents more than an hour to drop their kids off for the first day of school.
Other parents parked in a nearby gas station or down the street and walked their child to class.
