Robstown police are investigating murder of 26-year-old man

ROBSTOWN, Texas — A 26-year-old Robstown man was murdered in an incident that took place near St. Anthony's Catholic Church yesterday afternoon.

Santiago Hernandez Jr. was stabbed once in the upper chest area after an altercation with another man and a woman. The incident occurred Thursday afternoon in the 700 block of Illinois. Robstown Police Chief Enrique Paredez said the stabbing was reported to police by witnesses at 4:27 p.m.

Witnesses saw the incident and reported it to police. The victim was transported to Spohn Shoreline Hospital in Corpus Christi where he later died of his injuries.

The victim was homeless and was targeted for the crime, Paredez said.

"We want to assure the community they are not in any danger," Paredez said. "It was a targeted crime."

An investigation into the crime is continuing, Paredez said.

"Investigators have good leads and we are hoping to make an arrest soon," Paredez said. "I expect to make an arrest soon."
