The City of Robstown officially welcomed a new mayor today.
Gilbert Gomez was sworn in at Robstown City Hall this afternoon.
Gomez defeated incumbent Mandy Barrera in a run-off election earlier this month.
He's served the Robstown community in many capacities, including as Robstown's police chief.
He retired from that post, but said he is ready to give his all to the city once again.
"I've let city staff know if I need to be here 40 hours a week, I'm going to be here 40 hours a week. I think that's a change from what they are used to. So they need to get used to that. I'm here i'm available. I'm not here to keep an eye on them, but i'm here to serve the public."
Rolando Samaniego also was sworn in Friday as a trustee on the Robstown Utility Board.
