CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — People laced up their running shoes this morning to help a local preschool.

Hundreds of people showed up at Water's Edge Park for the 15th annual Rise and Shine 5K.

All the money raised from the event goes to the Rise School in Corpus Christi, an inclusive preschool for all children.

That organization wants to open another classroom so more students could can attend.

“This is what we love. This is what keeps us going,” said Vanessa Nisbet, executive director of the Rise School. “We see it in the school every day and for the community to come out and see exactly what we do, that we are inclusive, that we have children that are typically developing, children that have a disability, we are one.

“I mean that is the big thing. We are one.”

Organizers tell us this year's event had the biggest turnout yet.

More than $90,000 was raised for the school.
