ROBSTOWN, Texas — Staff with the Richard M. Borchard Regional Fairgrounds are excited to re-open their doors for the community and surrounding areas.

The event center closed in mid-March and worked on a plan to adapt to the pandemic.

“So we had a lot of events cancel, or postpone and moving our dates and event calendar has constantly moved,” says General Manager of the Richard M. Borchard Regional Fairgrounds Jason Green.

Green says thanks to the partnership of Nueces County Commissioners the event center was able to re-open at fifty percent.

The first event hosted by the fairgrounds was the Joann McDonald Team Roping event.

While events will now come to light, visitors will notice a few new things.

“We had to get hand sanitizing stations we’ve had to sanitize equipment getting all the PPE equipment masks and face shields for our employees,” says Green.

There will also be a few new changes in how you will get your food at concessions.

This includes staff on standby with hand sanitizer for customers, social distancing signs on the floor, and COVID-19 prevention signs around the building.

Green says they are taking these regulations seriously, to protect the health of visitors and workers.
