CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The owner of a local pet store that was raided last Friday at the Corpus Christi Trade Center was in Municipal Court today.
Arslan Ijaz is the owner of Pets and More Plus, where Animal Care Services seized nearly 400 animals following complaints that they were not being fed or receiving proper care.
Most of the seized animals were parakeets.
The purpose of today's hearing is to determine if the owner will face animal cruelty charges, and because of the large number of animals involved, the hearing is expected to carry on into next week.
Ijaz is expected to testify during his hearing.
