Think about how important it is to you, as a parent, to find a trustworthy child daycare program.

Who are you willing to trust with your child, especially at such a young and developing period in their life?

Our Andy Liscano offers some guidelines in Protecting Your Money.

First decision to consider. Commercial daycare on home daycare? What are your child’s needs?

Katie Galan with the Better Business Bureau asks “Do you want your child to have more socialization with other children, or do they need more specialized individual attention?”

Whatever you decide, make sure to check references. You can go to BBB.org.

Next, check the facility’s licensing and accreditation. You can do this through the Texas Department of Health and Human Services.

What kind of training does the staff have?

Remember, these are the people who’ll care for your child when you're not around.

As adults, living through a pandemic, we are constantly reminded of the importance of wearing masks, washing our hands, social distancing and sanitization. What about the day care?

Galan says to make sure the daycare you choose is sanitizing the toys. That they’re sanitizing every area that these kids are going to be touching.

Next, ask about the day care’s nutrition program. Is there a nutritionist on staff?

Does the day care provide all meals and snacks, or can you send your child’s favorites with them every morning? How do they handle food allergies? How about unplanned parental visits ?

You find yourself with some free time during the day, and you just want to drop by the day dare to see your child. You want to see that big smile on their face when they see you. Can you do that, or do you have to call ahead ?

Just some suggestions to help you Protect Your Money.
