CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A chartered flight carrying some precious cargo departed from the airport this afternoon.

A rescue group called “Pilots and Paws” loaded up these pups that had been at the Nueces County Services Shelter.

The passengers included a mother dog, her six puppies and two orphaned puppies.

They're all bound for a foster home up in Georgetown.

“So, they'll stay in foster until the rescue can screen potential adopters and find them a permanent loving forever home,” said volunteer Lisa Bockholt.

Nueces County Animal Services says with so many strays and abandoned animals here, they'll work with groups like “Pilots and Paws” to find homes for them outside this area.
