CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — As shoppers get their last-minute holiday purchases done, you can bet it will have an impact on traffic.

Police are ready, especially in the area of La Palmera Mall.

Holiday crowds are already starting to form at La Palmera Mall as well as various other shopping centers along SPID. It is not just a busy time for the holiday shoppers, but for CCPD, too.

They'll be increasing their patrols making sure people remain safe during the busiest time of the year.

“It's a busy area around the mall and Moore Plaza, so you gotta be extra mindful especially those vehicles pulling out from the mall and from Moore plaza,” said Corpus Christi Police Lt. Timothy Frazier. “You know you don't always see what they are doing they may not be paying attention, so it is up to driver to be more cognizant about what is going on around them.”

Now, there is a decent amount of construction going on along SPID at the moment, but that is something that Frazier said won't be a terrible issue this holiday season because the workers will not be on the road. He calls that a plus.

You can also avoid the major traffic bottlenecks by taking alternate routes to the main shopping areas.

Consider taking McArdle or Holly Road to get to La Palmera or Moore Plaza.
