Concerns over COVID-19 aren't stopping people from enjoying the outdoors.

KRIS 6 News went out to Padre Island and found people fishing and hanging out on the beach.

Here's what a couple of them had to say:

"They shut down the schools, cancelled our games, I'm an assistant coach there at Coastal Bend College," said Javier Tovar. "And we had the conference games on Friday and Saturday, but since we weren't able to have them I brought my family down to the beach to hang out."

When asked if they were worried about the crowded beaches, one beachgoer said no.

"Nah," said A.J. Garcia. "It doesn't bother us. We're kind of in a kind of secluded area."

While there were plenty of people on the beach, the crowds were noticeably lighter than they usually are during Spring Break.
