CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A pedestrian was killed trying to cross a freeway early Wednesday morning.


The pedestrian was trying to cross the freeway at westbound SH 358 before Greenwood. Police said they received their first call on the accident about 5 a.m.

When they arrived they found a man dead on the roadway.

The name of the pedestrian has not been released and police have not determined why he was attempting to cross the road.

Investigators want to remind everyone that it is illegal to cross the freeway on foot at any time.

The highway was shut down and traffic was diverted to either SH 286 North or South. Please use caution and if possible, take a different route.

Corpus Christi police said the highway was opened about 9:40 a.m. today for traffic.
