Pedestrian killed by vehicle on Saratoga

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A pedestrian is dead after being struck by a vehicle on Saratoga Blvd.

The 23-year-old male was not crossing the street at a designated crosswalk.

Lieutenant Steven Gonzales says the incident happened Monday evening around 7:40.

All westbound traffic was shut down on Saratoga from Staples to Long Meadow while police investigate.

The speed limit is 45 miles per hour on Saratoga.

The victim was taken to the hospital with critical injuries.

The victim and driver have not been identified.

Police urge pedestrians to cross at crosswalks and be mindful of surroundings in low light .
