ARANSAS PASS, Texas — Aransas Pass Police Department officials said a 48-year-old man is dead after they believe a truck veered onto the sidewalk.

The incident happened at approximately 2:30 p.m. Friday at the intersection of Goodnight and Commercial Street.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Aransas Pass police said the pedestrian was walking on the sidewalk, pushing his bicycle, and holding his belongings. Officers believe the truck veered off the roadway west -- onto the sidewalk -- hit the pedestrian.

The driver, who was in a white Chevrolet truck, stopped at the southeast corner of the scene.

Aransas Pass Police said the man in the woman in the truck are cooperating with their investigation.

Officers say this is an ongoing investigation and ask if anyone has any information to call the Tri-County Crimestoppers at 800-254-TIPS or you can also report the activity online.

The identity of the victim on foot, along with the occupants inside the truck has not been released.
