Fire officials believe a smoldering cigarette may have caused an overnight fire which temporarily relocated six people.
The fire happened at 1 a.m. on Shoal Creek Circle in the Annaville area, off of Violet Road.
Battalion Chief Robin McGill said the fire appeared to have started on the balcony, and was ignited by smoking materials that were left smoldering on the patio. The cause, however, still is under investigation.
Three adults and three children were evacuated without injury, and the American Red Cross has been contacted to help the family.
A room and the back patio suffered damage, along with the roof.
It was piut out before it reached the attic.
