Corpus Christi Police Department officers are investigating a fatal pedestrian accident.

The incident happened just after 7 p.m. on Wednesday along Weber Road near SPID.

Police said a man was crossing Weber Road when he was struck by a a man in his late 30s driving a truck traveling southbound.

The pedestrian, a man in his mid-30s, was not in a crosswalk. CCPD Lt. Kevin Quesada said preliminary investigations indicate the pedestrian was at fault in the incident for not using a crosswalk.

Witnesses and the driver stopped to call 911 and help the victim, whom CCPD Lt. Kevin Quesada said later died at the hospital.

Police were seen handcuffing the driver of the truck, and are investigating whether alcohol was a factor in the pedestrian's death.
