CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS — She is a lawyer from the Houston area, and she is hoping to unseat Senator John Cornyn in next year's election.

Amanda Edwards is currently an at-large city council member in Houston. The Democratic has been on the council since 2016.

Early Thursday evening, she stopped by the Nueces County Democratic headquarters to drum up support.

She says Texans deserve real results in their lives.

Edwards said, "They don't deserve political banter. They don't deserve more distractions. They deserve someone who is focused on real leadership in the community but also committed to executing a vision, and that vision should have the community at the forefront."

Edwards is now alone in challenging the Republican Cornyn while ten Democrats are vying for that seat.
