CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Refinery Terminal Fire Company held a dedication ceremony today for a brand new foam fire truck.

Members of the fire company held a wetting down and push in ceremony.

It's a tradition that dates back to the days of horse-drawn pumpers.

Back then the fire engines had to be pushed into their bays by firefighters.

This new truck was also dedicated to the memory of Capt. Doug Commons.

He was with the RTFC for 11 years until his death one year ago.

“My husband was a really good guy,” said Commons’ widow, Laura. “Their dad was a really good guy and for someone like him to be honored for that, just for being a good man, means a lot to us.”

This truck is equipped with a 110-foot articulating boom that increases its pumping and distance capacity.

This foam tower truck is especially useful in hard to reach areas at tank farms.
