Multiple explosion victims taken to San Antonio hospitals

It has been hours since Friday morning’s dredge explosion at the Port of Corpus Christi, and we can now confirm that one of the victims transported here to CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Shoreline is now headed home, according to hospital officials.

A total of six people were transported to local hospitals, which include Spohn Shoreline and Bay Area.

Two people who were transported to Bay Area have been taken to San Antonio by ambulance.

Four people were brought to Spohn Shoreline, and of those four, three were flown to Brooke Army Medical Center's burn unit.

Officials tell us that one of the victims had burns over 10 percent of their body; another’s body received burns over 60 percent of their body and the third’s body sustained burns over 90 percent of their body.

The victims are from the Port Lavaca area.

Eighteen people were involved in the explosion, and eight of those people are doing well.
