Man dies in SPID motorcycle accident

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — An unidentified man in his 20s died after losing control of his motorcycle on SPID.

The accident happened just after 6 p.m. on the highway near the 2600 block of SPID, just before the Ayers Street exit.

Witnesses at the scene said the man was thrown from his motorcycle as he tried to accelerate to change lanes, and was run over by a passing vehicle.

The driver of the second vehicle and witnesses stayed to render assistance.

CCPD said the victim was taken to Spohn Shoreline, where he was pronounced dead.

Parts of SPID where temporarily closed between Ayers Street and Weber Road.

According to officials, the motorcyclist was wearing a helmet.

The investigation remains ongoing.
