CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Judge Missy Medary was sworn in today for an important statewide assignment.
Medary was sworn in for her third term on the Texas Indigent Defense Board.
Because of the coronavirus pandemic, the swearing in was done by video link.
The Indigent Defense Board helps make sure people who may not be able to afford it can still get legal representation.
"And so, the Texas Indigent Defense Commission, which I am a board member, is able to give money to different counties – all 254 counties -- to help run their Indigent Defense Programs so they comply with the constitution.">
Medary was first appointed to the board by Gov. Greg Abbott in 2016.
