CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A 61-year-old Orange Grove man was killed in a motorcyle accident on FM 2444 just before the intersection of FM 665 and 43.
DPS spokesman Nathan Brandley said that Gilbert Quintanilla was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
The accident occured about 12:10 a.m. Sunday approximately 4 miles west of Corpus Christi in Nueces County.
The preliminary investigation revealed that Quintanilla was traveling northbound on FM 2444 when he lost control of the motorcyle on a curve. It caused him to leave the roadway and crash into the grassy shoulder of the road. The driver of the motorcycle was thrown from the bike and was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
DPS troopers are continuing their investigation into the accident.
