Man charged with assault after shooting at convenience store

UPDATE:
39-year-old John Escobedo has been charged with aggravated assault after an argument on the 5700 block of Greenwood on Friday night ended with Escobedo pulling the trigger on a 42-year-old man.

ORIGINAL STORY:

A man was transported to the hospital after he was found with gunshot wounds Friday night.

Police were called to the 1500 block of Frio Street around 6:45 p.m., near Los Encinos Park, after getting a report of a man found inside an SUV with gunshot wounds.

Police arrived at the scene and found the 42-year-old victim. He was quickly transported to Spohn Shoreline Hospital.

Detectives determined the incident unfolded in the parking lot of a convenience store located near Greenwood and Holly Road.

Police said it appears the male victim got into a disturbance at the corner store with two other men and the victim was hit while he was inside his vehicle.

Police are looking at the surveillance video and have two possible suspect descriptions.

There is no word on the medical condition of the gunshot wound victim.
