CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS — A CCISD bus driver has been fired because of text messages he allegedly sent to a Kaffie Middle School student.
The incident happened last school year, but district officials say they just recently learned about the incident.
They say this type of communication is prohibited and considered inappropriate. The driver was suspended immediately before the district announced his firing late Thursday evening.
The Corpus Christi Police Department announced they arrested 58-year-old Marlon Frazier.
"CCISD confirms Mr. Frazier's contract was terminated late this afternoon," said Leanne Libby, the district's director of communications. "Safety remains a priority in CCISD, and the district takes swift action when notified of possible wrongdoing."
Police say he was placed in custody and charged him with one count of improper relationship between an educator and student.
