PORT ARANSAS, Texas — I.B. Magee Beach RV park moved one step closer to reopening today.
A groundbreaking ceremony was held there Thursday afternoon.
The popular Port Aransas site has been closed since it was damaged by Hurricane Harvey more than two years ago.
Repairs have been delayed by several issues, including some were with FEMA.
"I think this is just another testament on how strong Port Aransas is and Nueces," Nueces County commissioner Brent Chesney said. "We will continue to make sure that we need to do in Nueces County to make sure Port Aransas grows and rebuilds and does things that are needed to make sure that it continues to be a strong and vibrant community."
Nueces County was also forced to make a change with the engineer when a bid for the project didn't meet the set budget.
The goal is to get repairs done in time for a spring break re-opening.
