For the past 37 years, a local hair salon owner has been showing her appreciation to those who have served the country in the military.
Denise Miller owns Denise's Unlimited Salon located at 1105 Airline Rd. She's been giving free hair cuts to local veterans for years and now that she's able to open her shop up once again, she's inviting military veterans to get a haircut on the house from now until Independence Day.
"Everybody owes the veterans something," said Miller.
The hairstylist stayed busy Friday with a few veterans showing up to take advantage of her generosity. World War II Veteran Milton Sherwood was one of them.
"It makes them feel good because it makes them feel appreciated," Sherwood said.
This year, she's added a 15 minute Rest and Relaxation session that inlcudes a free head, neck and shoulder massage.
Veterans are encouraged to make an appointment but Miller says she'll fit them them in whenever she can and she'll refuse tips from them.
Miller also encourages other salons to offer the same complimentary services to veterans.
