CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A local Pepsi bottler has delivered a special gift to CASA of the Coastal Bend. Today, Oneta presented a check for $10,000 to the nonprofit that serves area foster children.

Oneta was one of the top four independent bottlers chosen by PepsiCo. this year that was recognized for its growth and community service.

A presentation of its community work was made in New York, where the winner was selected. Oneta presented its service with CASA in a video, but was not chosen as the top bottler. It was, however, given the opportunity to award a donation to a charity of its choice, and it chose CASA of the Coastal Bend.

Oneta partners with CASA of the Coastal Bend for several fundraisers and projects, including the expanding Superhero Run.

"I think it's wonderful to be able to support CASA in this way and that PepsiCo. thought enough of us to give us that much to give to the community at Corpus Christi to help out locally, because we do like to keep as much of our donations local as possible as we can," said Oneta Owner and CEO Julia Kriegel.

CASA said the funds will go towards its volunteer program.

"It's just amazing," said CASA executive director Page Hall. "We're very excited, blessed and thankful. We will use the funds to help us find and train volunteers and keep our program going so that we can have volunteers serving children in the foster care system. We knew we were going to be chosen for this donation, but we didn't know they were going to double it. We're very excited about that."
