CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — There has been a huge drop in the number of local flu cases.
A total of 396 cases were reported in Nueces County last week.
That number is down 32.2 percent from the 584 confirmed cases the week before that.
That downward trend is also reflected nationally.
The Centers for Disease Control say while flu activity is still high, it did decrease slightly this week.
And experts say it is not too late to get a flu shot.
This year's vaccine has been shown to be about 45 percent effective overall and 55 percent effective in children.
