CORPUS CHRISTI, TX — COVID-19 has really hit several businesses, local flower shops have had to deal with the pandemic, the price of flowers have increased and according to Robin Reames, It's because of COVID.
“Because of the country’s that we get some of the flowers from, for example ecuador, they have been hit hard by COVID and so they don’t have the workers to pick the flowers. Red roses are going to be a little harder to find than in years past."
Reames said they will have to adjust their prices.
“You don’t want to go too high and then you turn people away, you may lose money but you may sell more and we have got to gofer because this is our business and we love it.”
Debbie Castro of Castro's Flower Shop on Horne said this year has been like no other.
“usually the whole sellers are calling me and they just want to push product on me, buy more, they have abundance of it, now it is the other way around, they call me daily.”
Both Castro and Reames hope to have a successful holiday.
