CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Former Corpus Christi professional boxer Jesse Benavides has been inducted into the Latin American International Sports Hall of Fame.
Benavides has a number of championships under his belt, including the National AAU light flyweight and National ABF bantamweight titles.
He also won the WBO super bantamweight world championship.
He’s also a four-time state Golden Gloves champion, a national Golden Gloves champion and in 1984 went to the Olympic Trials.
Benavides retired in 1996.
His Hall of Fame induction was held Saturday in Laredo.
