CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Everyone involved in the investigation after the FBI raids on Tuesday at the home of CCISD trustee John Longoria and Fulton Construction Co. remain tight-lipped even 24 hours after the incident.
Fulton is a major player in the local construction industry. The other raid was at the home of Longoria, a longtime CCISD trustee and a former city council member.
But this afternoon, the question remains why?
There was no answer today at Longoria’s house, one day after the feds executed a search warrant at his home on Denver Avenue. Agents could be seen taking out boxes of evidence on Tuesday as well as at least one computer.
FBI agents similarly executed a search warrant at Fulton Construction, a heavy hitter in the local building industry as well as the builder of several Corpus Christi schools including the new Mary Carroll High School that is still under construction.
Interestingly, Fulton was the only bidder on that project.
In the meantime, we have not heard from the CCISD, at least yet. Yesterday, they told us that no one from law enforcement had been in contact with them.
As for Longoria, he's been a longtime proponent in building new schools for the district and has helped pass bond proposals to get nearly a dozen schools in the district built in recent years.
A representative from Fulton had no comment about the investigation. The FBI was the same as of yesterday as they are keeping it close to the vest.
We’re working to find out who or what got these raids in motion, any evidence and whether anyone of any entities could be facing jail time or fines.
