CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Two sea turtles are doing better and are back in the wild.

Wild Life Rescue Workers with the Texas Sea Life Center released a juvenile Loggerhead Sea Turtle and a green turtle at the beach early Sunday morning. A large crowd gathered at the beach just off Windward Drive on the Island to witness the release and show support for the great work by the workers.

The Loggerhead Sea Turtle was named Bowie while he was rehabilitating. Bowie first arrived at the Texas Sea Life Center in May. Rescue workers also released a green turtle that was under their care for just a week.

"This is why we do this the loggerhead was pretty sick when he came in so it was a lot of work to get him back a lot of people are going to be have mixed emotions about it but it's a good thing they get him back out there for sure."

Anyone is welcome to the turtle releases which are free. You can learn about future releases by visiting the Center'sFacebook page.
