UPDATE (4:49 p.m. Wednesday): The Labonte Park turnaround under Interstate 37 is being closed sporadically over the next two weeks, according to a news release.
While the turnaround is closed, drivers will be redirected to an alternate with a 10 ft. clearance. Vehicles needing more clearance are asked to use southbound Labonte Park exit.
For those needing the turnaround with higher clearance, waits can be between 30-45 minutes in order for TxDOT to move heavy equipment such as cranes. Other drivers also may have to wait about five minutes so the equipment can be moved.
The Labonte Park exit turnaround from Interstate 37 is closed to allow work for the Nueces River Bridge reconstruction.
Texas Department of Transportation officials said the closure is needed to move construction equipment.
The turnaround is expected to be closed for at least the next two weeks.
The project is set to be completed in early 2027.
