CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The holiday shopping season began with Black Friday, then Cyber Monday followed. Tomorrow is Super Saturday, the biggest shopping day of the season.

More than 147 million people are expected to go out and shop nationwide.

Crowds of people were already at La Palmera looking for those last-minute gifts Friday morning.

"I just got my first paycheck from my first job at Chick-Fil-A," Bianca Martinez said.

Martinez has been working hard at her first job so she can buy Christmas gifts for her family.

"Some shirts and some perfumes for my brother and sister," Bianca said. "And I don't know what I'm getting my dad still."

Many others were wandering around the mall, on the hunt for that special something.

"I'm looking for that one perfect gift that has to do with Spiderman," Eliso Chapa said.

La Palmera has extended its hours for the busy holiday rush. Doors open at 8 a.m. and close at 11 p.m for the next several days. On Christmas Eve, the mall will open at 7 a.m. and close at 6 p.m.

Erica Rios is a manager at Kendra Scott and she says people are taking advantage of these hours.

"Since the holiday hours did change we are actually seeing a lot of people come in early in the morning, trying to get the holiday shopping done." Rios said.

And stores are loaded with plenty of merchandise, and employees, for the big weekend ahead.

"Tomorrow everyone is on the schedule," Rio said, "All of our staff is on the schedule, ready to go for that big rush that we're expecting."

"We definitely ordered enough merchandise to have any piece that anybody is looking for this holiday season."

Finding parking can be a chore but mall officials say the McArdle side of the mall usually has plenty of parking. The covered garage is free of charge.

The mall also offers valet on the SPID side of the property for $5.
