Kingsville is celebrating two premieres this weekend: the VIP launch of local artist Carmen Lomas Garza's interactive exhibit and a South Zone Texas Dove Opener celebration.

A&M-Kingsville's John E. Conner Museum will kick things off Friday with ‘En Mi Familia,’ a new permanent exhibit that takes you into four of Garza's paintings. The famed Chicana artist's bilingual piece brings aspects of South Texas culture to life through art and storytelling. VIP tickets are available here, and include a walk-through of the exhibit with the Texas A&I University grad, food, drinks and access to all current exhibits at the museum.

A limited number of tickets are available for $50 each. You may purchase your tickets here. Proceeds of this event benefit the Conner Museum.

The King Ranch Saddle Shop will celebrate the south zone dove opener on Saturday, with its 4th annual Fiesta de Paloma. King Ranch hunting experts will attend, as well as various name-brand exhibitors and outfitters and King Ranch biologist and ornithologist.

Brisket sliders and tamales will be available, as well as a rock wall and archery for the kids. Serjio and Ropin’ the Wind will perform live music from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Kingsville Noon Rotary Club will be be selling Wild Horse Distillery Rum samples in keepsake glasses, and the King Ranch Visitors Center will have vouchers for discounted historical tours of the King Ranch valid for this weekend only.
