KINGSVILLE, Texas — The Kingsville Independent School District announced what they say they “anticipated”, as a COVID-19 spike has pushed them to make the decision to switch to remote learning on Monday Jan. 11 and Tuesday Jan. 12.

During this time, all campuses in the district will be cleaned and disinfected. Teachers and students who are participating in on-campus learning can return back to school on Wednesday Jan. 13.

The school district urges families to help reduce opportunities for exposure during after-school hours and the weekends. They also ask that “individuals who are waiting on a COVID test, or who know of a COVID positive family member or friend that they have been in close-contact with, need to stay home until testing is completed and negative results are received”.

The switch to remote during these next few days may require KISD to make up some instructional hours/days before the end of the school year. KISD said they will keep families updated once they receive guidance from the Texas Education Agency.
