CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Beautify Corpus Christi Association (BCCA) and the Audubon Outdoor Club have been cleaning up Blucher Park for the past year.
They are inviting the public to help them this Saturday, Oct. 5 at 10 am.
The park is located directly behind the La Retama Central Library. Volunteers interested in helping can find more info on their event page and can show up at the Carrizo Street entrance on the day of the clean-up.
The park was recently effected by a controversial new ordinancethat was unanimously passed by the city.
The BCCA supports the new ordinance and is happy to be picking up less dangerous litter.
"Our hope is that with this newly passed ordinance, BCCA and volunteers will have less cleaning of personal affects, as well as dangerous items (syringes, used condoms, etc.), and have more time for needed improvements to the park," BCCA representatives say.
Blucher Park is an intentionally known bird sanctuary that attracts thousands of visitors a year.
