CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Islander's Women's basketball team defeated Houston Baptist 58-47 today, securing their title in the Southland Conference Championship.
With the win, the Islanders will have the top overall seed in next weekend's Southland Conference Tournament and will have a double bye to start the contest.
Senior Dalesia Booth led the Islanders in scoring with 19 points. Alexes Bryant was second in scoring with 13 points.
The Islanders started the game down 10-0 to the Huskies but managed to cut away at the lead.
As the regular season conference champions, they are guaranteed postseason play in some way, but a conference tournament title would put them in the 2020 NCAA Tournament.
