ARANSAS PASS, TEXAS — Aransas Pass police say human remains found last week were found to be ancient.
Officers were called to Hog Island located north of Highway 361 in Aransas Pass last week after they received a report of human remains were discovered by a fisherman.
When investigators arrived at the scene, they discovered the remains were human and they closed off the area in search of other clues.
According to Aransas Pass police, the local medical examiner believes the bones to be ancient remains. The examiner added it is not uncommon to find ancient remains in this part of South Texas.
The remains will be turned over to the historic society or a museum.
