CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — There was a huge show of support today for the family of Amy Hinojosa -- the woman killed in a wrong-way accident this past weekend.

A benefit fundraiser was held this morning at the Dawg House near Kostoryz and Foley Road.

Hundreds of people turned out and they sold 500 brisket plates during the first hour.

The money collected will go help Hinojosa's family.

And her family said they were gratified by the support from the community.

“I just want to thank everybody that came,” Amy’s sister Anastasia Smith said. “It shows how much my sister was truly loved and how much everybody is supporting her children.”

Another benefit will be held Saturday at the Knights of Columbus Hall in the 300 block of North Alameda.

It will start at noon.
