Homicide suspect turns himself in

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A young man who is accused of shooting and killing a 22-year-old man has turned himself in to local authorities.

Police say 18-year-old Nathan Iruega turned himself in to the Nueces County Jail around 10: 40 am Friday.

Iruega is accused of shooting a 22-year-old man in the 4300 block of Surfside Boulevard Wednesday Dec. 16, 2020.

CCPD Officers say it happened around 10:15 p.m. in the parking lot of a motel on Surfside Boulevard and Neil Street .They say the shooting appears to have started with a fight between a man and another person inside a vehicle.

"Shots were fired from within the vehicle, striking the pedestrian,” says Lt. Michael Pena of the Corpus Christi Police Department. “The pedestrian passed due to his injuries."

Detectives said they conducted their investigation and were able to identify 18-year-old Nathan Iruegas as the offender.

Iruega sits behind bars and his charged with murder. His bone was set at one million dollars.
