This morning's foggy conditions are being blamed for a fatal pedestrian accident that left a 13-year-old Orange Grove girl dead.

The Texas Department of Public Safety said Evangelina Cruz was walking along Farm-to-Market road 738 with another person in Jim Wells county, about a mile north of Orange Grove, around 6 a.m.

She was hit by a man driving a Chevrolet Silverado, who didn’t see the pair due to the fog.

Evangelina died at the scene. The person she was with was not injured.

DPS is still investigating the accident.
