CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — H-E-B employees were helping some Coastal Bend heroes today.

They brought free meals to all the firefighters and medics at Fire Station 18.

It's part of their annual Helping Heroes program.

The program has been around for 15 years.

H-E-B does this to honor first responders during the week of observances revolving around the Sept. 11 attacks.

“We’re very grateful, very humbled ...to be chosen,” Corpus Christi Fire Department Capt. Robert Pena said. “We just can’t say enough, just thank you.”

The folks from H-E-B also brought supplies to fill up the pantry at Fire Station 18.

H-E-B employees visited dozens of fire stations across the Coastal Bend.
