A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Thursday morning to officially re-open IB Magee RV Park in Port Aransas.
The popular tourist site was shut down after it was heavily damaged by Hurricane Harvey three years ago.
The park faced setbacks to start the reconstruction after getting denied for funding by FEMA then having issues with insurance coverage. Design issues also caused a delay in getting the RV park completed.
Tourists who arrived in the area Thursday were excited about the refurbished park.
"We drove through. It does look different than it did before, but we're extremely excited to have this place to come back to," said Cassandera Myers.
"Happy it's reopened and good to see it's recovering after the hurricane. That was a tough deal, I know, for the community," said Justin Krall.
The county's future plans for the park include a refurbished stormwater retention pond and a boardwalk.
