CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — It's technology that you might benefit from every day but not even know it.
It’s the Geographic Information Systems or GIS. Today, that technology was celebrated at Del Mar College's Center for Economic Development. It was all part of the 21st annual GIS Day. The event provides an opportunity to showcase the different applications of geographic information systems here in the coastal bend.
Students learned how geography and technology work hand in hand for developing roads, surveying land and even tracking natural disasters like hurricanes.
The opportunities for students are endless.
