KINGSVILLE, Texas — The Corpus Christi VA Outpatient Clinic administered free flu vaccines for veterans in Kingsville on Saturday.
The drive-thru clinic was set up at the Knights of Columbus Hall on 14th Street.
VA officials said it was an effort to provide the same care veterans in Corpus Christi receive to everyone.
"We want them to have the same services as other veterans and not have them leave there home area," VA outpatient clinic nurse manager Vanessa Guillory said. "So we're out here giving flu vaccines to our Kingsville-area veterans."
Veterans in the area were grateful for a chance to receive the shots on Saturday.
"This situation were in, this will help us recover from getting worse, so I think it's very important to get this vaccine," veteran Raul Chapa said.
The flu shot can help patients avoid getting sick and avoid the risk of serious complications.
Doctors say by being vaccinated, they not help themselves to stay healthy but also help the public at large avoid large outbreaks.
