CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Snake control got a little out of hand this morning.

Fire officials tell us, a man tried to get rid of snakes by burning them on his property along Arash Road and S. Staples Street -- that's just outside of the city limits -- but it got out of control.

The large brush fire broke out just before 10:15 a.m. Tuesday morning.

When firefighters arrived at the scene, heavy smoke was billowing into the air. Additional firefighters were called to the scene for help.

Fire officials said the blaze burned about 10 acres of shrub and brush.

The winds actually worked in the crew's favor, keeping the flames away from nearby homes.

Firefighters were able to get the fire under control almost two hours later but the fire rekindled Tuesday afternoon.

No injuries have been reported.

This is a developing story and we will update this story throughout the day.
