SINTON, Texas — Fire departments from several areas battled a blaze at the Hartzendorf Cotton Gin in Sinton earlier today.
The first began about 10:30 a.m. when cotton inside the gin ignited.
Some of the building was burned, but fire officials say that it remains structurally sound.
“At this time what did burn is actually a bi-product of the ginning process that had accumulated on the bin side,” San Patricio County Fire Marshal Steven Loving said. “There are actual smaller structures within the main structure. There was a build-up on the roof. That's where the fire occurred
There were no injuries reported.
And there's no sign that the fire was deliberate.
An investigation is underway into the exact cause of the blaze..
